“ I love Athens Bakery! Theyre one of the last remaining old school bakeries with no frills, homemade goods and some delicious authentic Greek spinach pastries and other delicacies. I was looking for a cake for my father in February and was driving down cedar lane and found Athens. There was an older gentleman who owned the shop who is always inviting and very friendly who prepared a tremendous chocolate mousse cake. Their cheese cakes are phenomenal as well. I dont know how its made but its a favorite of my mothers and she cant consume dairy all too often but this gave her no issues at all. A lovely lovely shop. They dont make them like this anymore and it brings me back to the times when I was a boy. Many thanks everyone and cheers to you on continued success. ”
“ I cannot believe I havent rated this place yet. Its my favorite bakery! Okay, Ill start from the beginning. We had just moved to NJ and I still didnt know where the good places were. It was my husbands birthday and the person who was supposed to be handling the cake, flaked the very night before. Now Im up the creek without a paddle. I start freaking out. How am I supposed to get my husband a good cake? I cant get him a grocery store cake. The next morning I start calling every bakery in my radius. No good options. Halfway through my list now and the anxiety is deafening. The next bakery on the list is Athens Bakery. My heart is already in shambles. I am literally just going through the motions at this point. The baker answers the phone himself which should have been a huge clue and I proceeded to ask if there was a readily available vanilla cake that served at least 10 people that I could buy. To my surprise, he offered to bake me a fresh cake, to my specifications, and had it ready just in time. He even used fresh whipped cream instead of icing. The cake was delicious and since then we get all of our cakes from Athens Bakery. I also have a special place in my heart for their spinach pies and baklava. They only take cash but they are so worth it. If you find yourself on Cedar Lane stop by the bakery. You wont regret it. ”

“ What an amazing place! Friendly and nice location. Their cookies and Spanakopita are fresh and taste straight out of the oven. Soft, fresh and full of flavor! After becoming extremely sick and hospitalized early this year from visiting Zais Dessertery in Bergenfield and forcing myself to eat disgusting, stone hard, and sugar packed desserts, due to not being able to get my money back from the cashier, Athens Bakery has been a great find for sure.
